Hello, I’m Neil, and thanks for looking at my website. I'm an English Language university teacher with an extensive background in teaching both international students and UK students. I work at a university in England, where I teach academic classes on different areas (e.g. dissertation writing, critical analysis) and provide 1-2-1 specialist help to students who want to develop their undergraduate and postgraduate writing to obtain higher grades. Prior to this, I taught in Portugal, and then returned to the U.K. to teach English at a local college, before going on to teach at the University of Liverpool for several years.
All this means I have seen hundreds of university essays, dissertations, articles and reports on many different subjects, which has enabled me to develop the skills required to be an effective academic teacher. It has also put me in touch with many students who have benefitted from my proofreading and editing skills.
As regards qualifications, I have a B.A. 2.1 Humanities, a Masters in English Literature, a further Masters in Applied Linguistics, and also hold recognised teaching qualifications with a Cambridge DELTA and Certificate of Education.
As stated above, I have extensive experience in English language teaching, so I am extremely familiar with the difficulties that second language English speakers can have when writing, and also the difficulties that university writing can bring to native English speakers who are unfamiliar with the conventions of academic work. So, you are in safe hands.
By using me, either as a proofreader/editor or for academic tuition, you will not be dealing with a faceless agency or organisation – this website is mine and you can contact me easily by using the contact form or email. So you will always receive a personal service.
